Goodbye Ubuntu

Ubuntu 11.10 has been out for a while, so far I hate it.  I upgraded my desktop computer from 11.04 (which I also disliked).  When I use the new Unity desktop environment I feel limited.  Simple tasks like opening a program and browsing my files feel more like a chore.  It's very difficult to multitask and get my work done with the new Unity interface.  My 23 inch screen multi-CPU desktop computer feels like a tiny 5 inch net-book.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Makes You Feel Sick

Unless you have been living under a rock, a lot has been said about High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) these last few years.  The talk has been about how bad it is for your health and the endless rebuttals by it's supporters, the big United States based food companies.  These big food companies like to use HFCS as an alternative sweetener to sugar because it's cheaper to move around and produce.

The Internet's Fatal Flaw

The Internet was created to allow the free flow of information, speech, knowledge, and ideas.  Unfortunately, our Internet is under attack by greedy corporation and repressive governments.  Not surprising, the major source of these attacks are coming from the United States.

Block Experts Exchange

How many times have you searched on Google for a solution to a problem, then landed on the "Experts Exchange" website only to find out you can't see the answer you are looking for.  If you are like many other frustrated Internet users out there who come across that stupid Expert Sex Change (LOL!) website, I have some great news.

Steve Jobs is Dead

Although sad for may people, I am not surprised and quite happy about the news. I don't mean to be disrespectful towards his family and close relative, but the man has been given more credit than he deserved. Sure, he helped make computers become accessible to the masses, but he did not do it alone. The man has been dying for almost 4 years. It shows you that having all the money in the world can't prevent death.

The Debit Card Fee

You can tell things are bad when banks start charging for the privilege of using a Debit card.  Recently in the good olde U.S.A.,  banks have discovered another "revenue stream" or what is normally called a fee.

Add another $5 to the already long list of banking fees.

US Airlines Free Roundtrip Tickets Promotion SCAM

What do you get when all 3 core human elements are combined? A scam of course. Today I received a very interesting letter in the US Postal Service's mail. It sure looks serious, probably an IRS or court document.

US Airlines SCAM Letter front.

I better open it right away and see what is wrong...

..what's this?

.NET is Going Away

I've have been saying for years that anyone investing time, money, or skills in .NET was foolish.  I feel no sympathy for any .NET developer who will one day find themselves obsolete.

Zynga's Virtual Toys

People these days seem to spend money to buy... absolutely nothing.  I am referring to Zynga's online games that are found mostly on Facebook.
